October 2007

October's Astroweather
with Guy Spiro
As October rolls in, the Jupiter square Saturn that came back into focus last month is soon to peak. Intensity will build through the first two weeks and then begin to subside. By the end of the month it will still be with us, but fading fast. This period may well produce moments when it will be tempting to doubt that this will ever end. Do not despair, and know that what is really happening is combatants getting licks in while they still can.
Also, since Jupiter is involved, this is all likely to be more noise than actual damage. With Jupiter, any damage will have a significant silver lining, even if it is not very apparent at first. As Jupiter moves away from the square to Saturn through the second half of the month, it moves into a sextile to Neptune that peaks very late in the month. This is very positive and is energy for compromise and acceptance of differences between religions and philosophies. This is the energy to focus on and will be very amenable to any global prayer and meditation for peace efforts. Let us all make the most of this. Please participate however you can.
On the more personal level, October will settle down a little. There is very high but very contradictory energy on the 8th and 9th. The biggest news is that Mercury turns retrograde for the last time this year on the 11th and backs up in our sky until November 1st. See the retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. Read ahead and plan for dealing with the high energy days that we do have, and try not to beat your head against the retrograde wall.
The most significant daytime Moon void of course periods will be the 4th, 16th, most notably the 27th, and in the western time zones, the 31st. There are a few half day voids to be aware of as well.
