Spiritside Submission Guidelines

At the moment, we are accepting articles on any topic with a length of 250-400 words. Submitted articles will remain on file with us for 6 months for possible use. Please submit with your article: a short, personal bio , a professional color photo, and your web address (if you have one). Please email all submissions to magazines@bmse.net with the words Spirit Side Article Submission in the subject line. The text of your article can either be pasted directly into the body of the email (preferred) or attached as a Microsoft Word Document.

If you are interested in being a columnist, please note that with your submission. Right now our positions are extremely limited, but we will keep all interested parties in mind for the future. Also, if you have an idea for a column that you would like to write, or just to see in our magazine, feel free to mention that as well.

Please realize that even though this is an internet publication, we are simply unable to publish all submissions received.

The deadline to be considered for each month's issue is the 15th of the month prior. Spirit Side Publishes on or around the first Friday of every month.

Spirit Side Editing Policies

We strive to meet a common ground between the standards of traditional magazine editing as well as the demands of the newer, online media. Our primary editing concerns are length and grammatical synchronicity. Minor editing is not subject to review and revisal; by submitting your work to Spirit Side you are allowing our editing staff to make corrections to your work on this level. Editing that the staff deems "minor" includes but is not limited to: punctuation, capitalization, subject/verb agreement, parallel structure, redundancies, form.

On occasions where we select a piece for publication, but feel it needs more than minor editing, we will email our edited copy back to the author for approval. At this point, the author is free look over our changes and make any further suggestions via email before publication. Due to the volume of submissions, we ask that your revisions be submitted only once, at least two days prior to our publishing date (the first Friday of the month). If we do not hear from you, our editing will stand as is. Please note that our editing of this nature is primarily concerned with length, our regular edition pieces having average lengths of 250-300 words and being no longer than 400 words.
